Branding is one of the most critical aspects of any business, large or small, retail or business-to-business. An effective branding strategy gives you the advantage in an increasingly competitive market. If you’re having a hard time with creating a brand, we’ve got you covered! We’re going to take a deep dive into how to set up your business for success through good branding.

Identify your brand

Your brand is your identity. It informs consumers and other businesses of what they can expect from your products and services, and it differentiates your offering from competitors. People identify with your company through colors, a logo, a tagline, or a feeling, so it’s important from the get-go to get it right.

Create your brand

We’ve identified what your brand is and what it does, but how do you create it? First, take a step back and ask yourself these questions. What are your values and goals? What is unique about your company? What differentiates you from competitors? What is your backstory? How do you want to be perceived? Once you’ve answered those questions you’ll be well on your way to creating a brand authentic to you.

Find your audience

Your brand is derived from who you are, who you want to be, and who people perceive you to be. Once you have established that, you’ve got to figure out who your target audience is. You can’t market your brand properly without knowing who you’re looking to attract. Is your audience local? Is it on a larger scale? Is it a certain demographic based on age, gender, and/or income? Once you’ve figured that out, you can create specific branding and content to entice your target audience. This will also help you spend your marketing money more efficiently instead of wasting dollars on those who have no need for what you’re offering.

Stay Consistent

Once you’ve created your branding, it’s important to stay consistent. By creating branding guidelines, you can ensure that anyone who helps you market your brand will represent you authentically and consistently. Your branding guidelines should include things like a mission statement, logos, typography, brand story, and imagery. Don’t skip this step, because creating your branding “bible” will keep your message consistent, which is so important, especially if you’re using outside marketing companies or hiring new employees.

Branding is the first step to setting your business up for success. By following these steps, your company will be on its way to business stardom. If you need outside help, Vesil is here for you! Contact us today for a free evaluation.
